Although Mira Loma was formerly an agricultural area, warehouse distribution and industrial development in the late 1980s and mid 1990s steadily replaced dairy farms and grape vineyards. Nearly all of the undeveloped land in the northwestern portion of the community is either commercially or industrially zoned. The area is approximately 70% built out. At the present time, the rate of industrial development market absorption is steadily increasing and present economic conditions indicate that this will continue until the area is completely built out.
Residents are in close proximity to the Norco area, which has more than 88 miles of bridle trails and the entire Santa Ana River basin for horseback riding. The area to the north along Interstate 15, formerly home to numerous cattle farms and dairy operations, is rapidly being taken over by new housing developments and golf course communities. A number of businesses and manufacturing operations are also locating to the area.
